Swarm (2016) is a collaborative graduation film directed by Sarah Sun (RISD) and myself (SCAD), with screenplay by Yiyun Teo and story guidance from Dr. Lucy Spelman. The film follows a village plagued by a locust swarm, in a world where animals have grown scarce. Farmers dress as birds and frogs instead – a reminder that humans too are part of nature’s cycle, harvesting from it and yet threatened by it all the same.
Sarah and I shared character design; she handled set design and painted all the backgrounds, while I drew the storyboards and animated most of the scenes.
