I had the chance to work with French May again in 2025, see French May promo on TV5Monde.
French May is a well-established festival that promotes French art and culture in Hong Kong. They host a wide range of events each year including visual arts, operas, classical and contemporary dance, music and theatre, circus, and cinema. For their 2024 trailer, I developed an abstract style that flows between geometric and organic to showcase the variety in French May’s performances. The interplay of light and shadow references this year’s crystal-like logo design. I also drew inspiration from Wassily Kandinsky’s visual interpretations of music on canvas.
I executed the whole production from concept development through animation to final compositing. One interesting challenge was designing the video for both vertical and horizontal formats from the start, adapting to various social media needs.
