Duk6 Duk6 is an independent narrative book festival in Hong Kong, held every 1.5 years, celebrating indie narrative works across all kinds of media, through book fairs, exhibitions, talks, and workshops. In a market where fan work and IP characters tend to sell better, the festival exists to cultivate original storytelling, gathering creators together and building a more supportive readership to help sustain their work.
I joined the two original organisers as the third member, “Staff C” of the team since the 2nd Duk6 Duk6, taking on branding, visual communication, and day-to-day operations. This includes building and maintaining the official website, which archives all previous events, contributing illustrations and design work, often interpreting the guest artists’ key visuals into souvenirs and assets like badges, wristbands, and lanyards, and ensuring communication with the public is clear and engaging.
The 2nd Duk6 Duk6 was the most ambitious edition yet, running an online and physical book fair just a week apart. The online event took place on GatherTown, where participants attended as avatars and visited creators’ booths virtually. It was especially meaningful during Covid and a wave of emigration, making it possible for people far from home to still be part of the community.
The 4th Duk6 Duk6 is coming in autumn 2026. Visit duk6duk6.com or follow us on Instagram: hkoriginalonly for updates!
