Synopsis: Only through a railway station and some inexplicable fold in space could a farmland co-exist with an overdeveloped city. The farmers’ peaceful routine remains undisturbed, unconcerned by the city’s busy inhabitants – who, little by little, are losing a part of themselves.

Please Mind the Gap (2018) is an animated short inspired by my farming experience at Pat Heung Rice, a community-run organic rice farm in Hong Kong. Like many farmers in the community, I travelled long distances between the farm and the city. The film reflects on this double life and lost root, through a city so overcrowded and overdeveloped that the rural and urban magically overlap. I made the film by myself, aside from the title calligraphy and music.
